What We Supplied:
Currently, the development of oil and gas projects in Kuwait primarily focuses on the growth of refining capacity and collaborative projects with other countries.
Kuwait is a founding member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), and its state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries play a pivotal role in the upstream and downstream sectors of Kuwait's oil industry, including oil exploration, production, refining, liquefaction and domestic sales of natural gas, chemicals, petrochemicals, and maritime transportation.
In recent years, Kuwait has witnessed significant growth in refining capacity. According to leading data and analytics company GlobalData, refinery capacity in the Middle East is expected to grow by approximately 17% by 2024, and Kuwait is poised to lead the region's refinery capacity expansion over the next four years, with an anticipated increase of 615,000 barrels per day, accounting for 31% of the total capacity growth in the region. This is primarily supported by the Al Zour project, a major refinery project that KPC has been advancing in recent years.
In terms of collaborative projects with other countries, Kuwait has also made progress. Although Kuwait's policy on foreign companies engaging in upstream and downstream activities such as oil exploration, production, sales, processing, and petrochemicals in the country has not been fully liberalized, cooperation between foreign companies and Kuwait in the oil sector has already begun. For instance, Jereh Oil & Gas Engineering Company has undertaken several integrated large-scale oil and gas facilities projects in Kuwait, including comprehensive oil, gas, and water treatment, as well as design, manufacturing, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance services. The successful execution of these projects has not only enhanced the development level of Kuwait's oil and gas projects but also promoted cooperation and exchanges between Kuwait and foreign companies.
In summary, the current development status of oil and gas projects in Kuwait is positive, with growing refining capacity and advancing collaborative projects, laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development of Kuwait's oil and gas industry.
