Project News:
GRAND CABLE has been selected as the supplier of special low-temperature resistant cables for the Mongolia Sergelen 220/110/35kV Substation project, following the formal signing of a supply agreement with the Mongolian engineering contractor RICHWELL ENGINEERING LLC.
The supply includes low-voltage power cables and control cables designed for extreme environments, with a cold resistance rating of -40°C. These cables will be specifically used in the substation's secondary protection systems, which are crucial for transmitting critical monitoring signals and control commands to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid.
The Sergelen Substation project represents a key initiative in Mongolia's efforts to enhance the resilience and reliability of its national power grid. In recent years, driven by growing electricity demand from mining operations and urban population growth, and aiming to optimize its energy mix, Mongolia has been actively modernizing and expanding its power infrastructure. A particular focus has been placed on strengthening the Central Energy System and improving grid interconnection and stability in remote areas. These development efforts have created a clear and pressing need for transmission and distribution equipment capable of withstanding the extreme low temperatures of the region's continental climate.
The -40°C cold-resistant cables supplied by GRAND CABLE are specifically engineered to meet the stringent standards required for power construction in such high-altitude and cold environments. This cooperation underscores the vital role that specialized cable suppliers play in supporting the development of energy infrastructure worldwide.
